Fact of Life #31 by Denise Vega is about a sixteen year old girl who is living in the shadow of her mother. Her mother is a busy-body and is constantly on call for other people but neglects to even recognize her daughter is there. Kat feels betrayed when she finds out her mother is being more of a mother to one of her classmates who is pregnant then she is for her.
